# Soccer: The Pietermaritzburg High Court in KwaZulu-Natal has declared the 27-million-rand sponsorship deal between Royal AM and Msunduzi Municipality unlawful, ordering the club to repay the full amount. The 2021 three-year deal, at nine-million-rand annually, was controversially paid upfront. Following a DA challenge, the court ruled it breached procurement rules. Royal AM, recently expelled from the Premier Soccer League, also faces SARS curatorship over 40-million-rand in alleged unpaid taxes by owner Shauwn Mkhize.
