# Western Cape Infrastructure MEC Tertuis Simmers has handed over 20 “Breaking New Ground” homes in Calitzdorp’s 113-million-rand Bergsig housing project. Approximately 564 families have received homes, with 92 more due by end of August, totalling 656. The project targets backyard dwellers and farm workers, bringing them closer to services. The MEC says despite vandalism and electrification delays, the department accelerated delivery through bridge funding and repairs:
