# City Power has condemned the unlawful occupation of buildings and dangerous electricity connections that jeopardise lives, cause fire risks, and threaten Johannesburg’s power network. The utility says such practices cause major financial losses, hinder infrastructure upgrades, disrupt businesses, and trigger outages for paying customers. City Power’s spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, says joint operations with law enforcement will now be routine to target hijacked buildings and curb illegal connections:
