# Cosatu says government needs to expand public employment programmes to provide a path for young people to find permanent jobs. This comes as the union federation has expressed concern about the increase in the official unemployment rate from 32.9-percent in the first quarter of this year to 33.2-percent in the second quarter. Cosatu’s spokesperson, Zanele Sabela, says government must also ramp up financing available to unlock small, medium and micro enterprises, industrial and export sectors:
