# The DA says the Department of Home Affairs’ plan to make smart ID and passport applications available on the banking apps of Capitec Bank, FNB, and Standard Bank in the coming months will be a game changer. Until now, smart ID and passport services were only available at 30 branches spread between five different banks. The DA’s Adrian Roos says this bold step forward in minister Leon Schreiber’s digital transformation strategy ultimately has the potential to alleviate long-standing bottlenecks:
