# At least 20 KwaZulu-Natal municipalities are at risk of losing funding from the National Treasury. This is due to the municipalities’ failing to come up with strategies to reduce and prevent unauthorised, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure. Among the municipalities fingered are Impendle, Zululand, Jozini, Endumeni, Msunduzi, and Newcastle. In a letter to KZN Finance MEC, Francosi Rodgers, Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana states that persistent non-compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act prescripts cannot continue unabated.
