# Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his country is fighting Hamas terrorists, not the Palestinian population, and they are doing so in full compliance with international law. # Energy experts are labelling the newly released Integrated Resource Plan as depressing. The plan, which predicts how much power the country will need and what combination of energy will most economically deliver energy security, was gazetted last week. Compared to the 2019 plan, this one has ramped up gas procurement, delayed the decommissioning of coal plants and reduced the procurement of renewables. Energy expert, Anton Eberhard, says the plan fails to fulfil its declared purpose of ensuring electricity security while minimising environmental impacts and the cost of supply.
# Soccer: Bafana Bafana’s captain, Ronwen Williams, believes his team can go far at the Africa Cup of Nations. South Africa leaves for the Ivory Coast today after concluding their preparations with a training match against Lesotho behind closed doors in Pretoria yesterday.
