# KwaZulu-Natal Transport and Human Settlements MEC, Siboniso Duma, has saved the provincial government 1.7-billion-rand, rechanneled to build one-thousand-200 houses on safe land like Cornubia. Addressing the KZN Legislature, Duma said over 988-thousand housing opportunities have been created since democracy. Plans include 300-thousand serviced stands, tackling informal settlements, and supporting middle-income earners. In addition he confirmed that the Reconstruction and Development Programme in KwaZulu-Natal is progressing, with 534 units completed:
