# Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke has instructed KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Thulasizwe Buthelezi, to intervene in the Umkhanyakude Municipality. Maluleke has raised concerns about the municipality’s failure to implement a credit and debt collection policy. This comes as the municipal council is seeking legal action to interdict a decision by Buthelezi to place the municipality under administration. The department’s spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila, says the MEC is aware of the grave nature of the issues raised by Maluleke:
