# The Western Cape Government has launched the Planet Youth programme in Mitchells Plain to create safer, healthier environments for young people. The initiative fosters dialogue with families, teachers, and caregivers. It includes the anonymous Planet Youth 2025 Survey, among Grade 8 and 9 learners to guide area-specific safety strategies. Provincial Health MEC, Mireille Wenger, says the programme has expanded to 130 schools, with over 50-thousand learners surveyed. The data will help shape tailored, community-based responses across high-crime areas.
