Over 213,000 online school applications processed in Gauteng on opening day [SOUND]

# Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says over 213-thousand Grade 1 and 8 applications were successfully processed by lunchtime today as the 2026 Online Admissions officially opened. The Department’s spokesperson Steve Mabona says within the first hour, over 78-thousand applications were recorded. Mabona has urged parents not to panic, as the system will remain open until 29 August and help is available through district offices and 81 walk-in centres:
