New director aims to strengthen Weskoppies mental healthcare

# Tshwane University of Technology alumnus, Bafana Manganyi, says communities urgently need ethical leadership in mental healthcare. The 33-year-old was recently appointed to the board of Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital as a non-executive director. In his role on the board, Manganyi will help ensure governance, oversight and accountability at one of Gauteng’s key specialised mental health facilities. Manganyi says the board is actively addressing issues such as staff shortages, stigma and limited resources, while also strengthening partnerships with civil society to boost awareness and encourage early intervention.
