# The ANC in Ekurhuleni has welcomed mayor, Nkosindiphile Xhakaza’s leadership in dealing with the public outcry against the fixed electricity charge. The city introduced fixed monthly charges of 109-rand-78-cents for single-phase and 203-rand-89-cents for three-phase connections in the 2025/2026 financial year that led to a community shutdown in Tembisa that affected roads today. The ANC’s Jongizizwe Dlabathi says the party re-affirms its commitment to meaningful public participation and inclusive decision making:
