# The Freedom Front Plus believes that solutions to South Africa’s challenges have to be found to create a bright future for all, including the Afrikaner and every other minority group. During the Budget Vote Debate on the Presidency on Wednesday, FF Plus leader Corné Mulder stated that the country has failed under ANC rule. He says that at the heart of the country’s crisis lies an obsession with equality of outcome and not opportunity:
# The Department of Health says it is embarking on a vaccination drive against mpox disease, as the number of laboratory-confirmed cases is gradually rising in the country. Two laboratory-confirmed cases have recently been recorded in Gauteng and Western Cape, increasing the total cumulative number of confirmed cases to ten. The department’s spokesperson, Foster Mohale, says they have received around ten-thousand-500 doses of the mpox vaccine, Imvanex, a donation from the Africa Centres for Disease Control:
# The Western Cape government has reaffirmed the importance of strengthening trade and investment relations with Canada. In 2023, South Africa’s exports to Canada were valued at 8.28-billion-rand, with the province playing a significant role, with export receipts totalling 3.4-billion-rand. MEC of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism, Ivan Meyer, recently held a meeting with Canada’s minister of Finance, François-Philippe Champagne. Meyer says between January 2014 and May 2024, Canada invested in 26 projects in South Africa, totalling 15.57-billion-rand in capital expenditure:
# The International Criminal Court has rejected Israel’s request to withdraw arrest warrants against prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence minister Yoav Gallant. In November last year, the court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, and a Hamas leader, Ibrahim al-Masri, for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. The warrant for Al-Masri was withdrawn in February following credible reports of his death. The ICC has also rejected an Israeli request to suspend its wider investigation into alleged atrocity crimes in the Palestinian Territories.
# Cricket: West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell is set to retire from international cricket after the second T20 match against Australia on July 22nd in his hometown of Kingston, Jamaica. The 37-year-old, a two-time T20 World Cup winner, has earned 84 international caps in the format and taken 61 wickets. He also has 56 one-day international caps and 70 wickets. Russell says he wants to finish his international career on a high, while being a role model for the next generation of cricketers coming out of the Caribbean.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-84-cents and the euro at 20-rand-74-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-90-cents and Bitcoin trades at 118-thousand-251-dollars. Gold sells at three-thousand-340-dollars-25-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 68-dollars-6-cents a barrel.
