DA welcomes SAPS inquiry but demands stronger parliamentary oversight [SOUND]

# The DA has welcomed president Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of a commission of inquiry into SAPS misconduct allegations raised by the KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. The DA’s Lisa Schickerling insists the commission must not replace Parliament’s oversight role. Schickerling calls for continued work by key portfolio committees to ensure accountability and transparency. She emphasises that restoring public trust requires Parliament to act independently and decisively alongside the executive’s investigative efforts:
