City Power increases security at mini substations in Joburg

# City Power says due to increasing incidents of theft and vandalism, it has beefed up security at mini substations. During the last financial year, 127 mini substations were vandalised or had equipment stolen from them in the City of Johannesburg. The entity has spent over 100-million-rand to fix or replace the stations. City Power’s spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, says as part of the security strategy, response vehicles are deployed daily to patrol mini-substation sites. He adds that theft syndicates, however, remain a threat.
