# KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, has urged flood victims evicted from the Bayside Hotel to temporarily relocate to Chesterville Community Hall. The eviction followed delayed payments due to compliance processes. The MEC, who met with Human Settlements minister Thembi Simelane, confirmed 185-million-rand has been paid so far, with 128-million-rand still needed to house one-thousand-200 families. Duma says the reality is that the government cannot rebuild on unsuitable land that saw homes being washed away during floods.
