# Western Cape MEC for Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Anton Bredell, has urged farmers and residents to inspect dams and report any signs of overflow as heavy rains continue to batter the province. The call comes after the South African Weather Service issued a level four warning for disruptive rainfall and a level two warning for coastal waves, valid until Sunday. Bredell says recent rainfall has saturated the soil, raising the risk of flooding and infrastructure strain.
