# Gauteng is intensifying its fight against addiction, with hundreds of young people from under-resourced communities receiving free treatment in Heidelberg. This forms part of Premier Panyaza Lesufi’s pledge to expand access to rehabilitation. Concerns remain however, about the system’s capacity, with over 34-thousand people still waiting for admission. The MEC for Social Development, Faith Mazibuko, says the new rehabilitation model aims to deliver lasting change, but questions persist over its readiness and long-term impact:
