# The DA says it considered a motion of no confidence against president Cyril Ramaphosa, accusing him of protecting corruption-accused ministers. DA leader John Steenhuisen also announced the party’s withdrawal from the National Dialogue, calling it a wasteful ANC electioneering ploy. This follows the firing of former Trade deputy minister, Andrew Whitfield who went on an un-authorised trip to the US. Steenhuisen says the dialogue is now a waste of time and warns Ramaphosa his leadership of the GNU is hanging by a thread:
