Report warns over 600 million people still without electricity access globally

# The 2025 Tracking Social Development Goal 7 report says that nearly 92-percent of the world’s population now has basic electricity access, but 666-million people remain without it. Despite progress, the report states that the current pace is too slow to achieve universal access by 2030. Financing shortfalls and regional disparities, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, remain major barriers. The report urges stronger global cooperation and investment in decentralised renewable energy and clean cooking to ensure equitable, inclusive energy access for all.
