# The African Farmers Association of South Africa in the Free State has expressed concern over the challenges experienced by black farmers accessing land. The statement follows a land dispute in Hoopstad, where an emerging black farmer was locked out of state-owned land managed by the Department of Water and Sanitation. AFASA’s Realeboha Mokhethi told SABC News that white commercial farmers reportedly have control of most of the land:
