# The DA in the Western Cape is calling for renewed focus on ensuring the safety of children at schools across the province. The DA’s Leon van Wyk says the police reported a total of 16 safety-related incidents occurred between January and February this year alone. He says among these were two serious cases, the alleged extortion of teachers in Philippi East and a shooting near a school in Kraaifontein:
