# President Cyril Ramaphosa has posthumously awarded Advocate Duma Nokwe the honorary title of Senior Counsel. The announcement came during his reburial at West Park Cemetery in Johannesburg, alongside his wife, Vuyiswa. Nokwe died in exile in 1978 and played a pivotal role in the anti-apartheid struggle. Nokwe was South Africa’s first black advocate and former ANC Secretary-General. Ramaphosa says this award honours his legal excellence and dedication to justice:
