# Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, has welcomed the release of the 2025 Easter Road Safety report by Transport minister, Barbara Creecy. During the Easter period, Gauteng recorded 22 fatalities compared to 52 in 2024. The department’s spokesperson, Lesiba Mpya, says they remain concerned about the number of fatalities involving pedestrians, which accounted for 47-percent of road deaths:
