PSA welcomes deployment of over 200,000 assistant teachers [SOUND]

# The Public Servants Association has welcomed the deployment of over 200-thousand assistant teachers, in an attempt to ease educators’ workload and create jobs for young people. Recent research revealed that South Africa has a shortfall of some 46-thousand educators. This is aggravated by the fact that around 18-thousand educators are leaving the profession annually owing to retirement and other factors. PSA’s, Claude Naiker, says the assistant teachers will be appointed for six months with a stipend of four-thousand-rand:
