# The police arrested 369 suspects nationwide in operation Vala Umgodi for crimes including illegal mining, murder, and possession of explosives. In the Northern Cape alone, police seized 60 unpolished diamonds in two busts. Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk, says major successes were also recorded in the Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and North West. She calls for public cooperation as efforts to dismantle illegal mining networks continue:
