# The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate says that with winter approaching, work is being done to prepare infrastructure for the anticipated rains. More than 78-million-rand has been allocated to proactively maintain sewer systems. The metro has also invested in 23 new sewer response jet-vac trucks, valued at 53-million-rand. The metro says that with more water entering the system during rainy months, proactive cleaning helps reduce overflows, ensuring both sewer and river systems can manage the increased volume.
