Joburg ECD owners await city’s response on by-law demands

# The City of Johannesburg has promised to respond within 21 days to a memorandum submitted by about 70 Early Childhood Development educators and principals. The group, mostly women from townships and informal settlements, marched to Mayor Dada Morero’s office on Tuesday, demanding changes to by-laws they say exclude centres on unproclaimed land from crucial subsidies. They argue that strict regulations delay permits and harm children’s access to care. The metro’s Ntsiki Neti accepted the memorandum in Braamfontein.
