Vandalism and illegal dumping contributes to flooding in Cape Town [SOUND]

# The City of Cape Town says the continuous vandalism of stormwater infrastructure and illegal dumping into the stormwater system, have a major impact on the overall functioning of the metro’s stormwater system. These illegal activities lead to localised flooding during heavy rainfall events. Mayoral committee member for Urban Mobility, Rob Quintas, says the cost of the infrastructure repairs and the replacement of stolen infrastructure is a waste of public money which the metro cannot afford:
