Gauteng Community Safety Committee demands action after spate of taxi killings [SOUND]

# The Gauteng legislature’s portfolio committee on Community Safety condemns the escalating taxi violence in the province, with three taxi marshals shot dead in Soweto yesterday and eleven taxi operators killed in Katlehong last month. They blame violent disputes between rival taxi associations for the bloodshed. The committee’s chairperson, Bandile Masuku, calls for urgent mediation between taxi groups and stronger government action to ensure the safety of commuters and restore peace:
