ANC Ekurhuleni welcomes commemoration of Daveyton massacre [SOUND]

# The ANC in Ekurhuleni has welcomed the passing of the motion by the council to request the annual commemoration of the victims of the Daveyton massacre. On 24 March 1991, 12 self-defence unit members were killed and 38 were injured when police opened fire on ANC supporters who had gathered for a political rally. The ANC’s Pelisa Nkunjana says among the innocent lives lost was Nomathamsanqa Matsholo, a nine-year-old girl, who was struck and killed by a stray bullet:
