# The Gauteng Department of Health, in partnership with the Medical Bureau for Occupational Diseases, urges ex-mine workers to register for possible social security benefits and medical surveillance. The registration process has commenced and will run until 4 April, in the West Rand district, where over two-thousand former mine workers have unclaimed benefits. The department’s Motalatale Modiba says this programme aims to give justice and support to those who worked in dangerous conditions:
