# Cape Town mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, has welcomed the Port of Cape Town’s inclusion in government’s Request For Information process. The process launched by the national Transport Department aims to test the private sector’s appetite for partnerships on ports and freight rail lines. Hill-Lewis says research indicates that private sector participation at the Port of Cape Town could result in an additional six-billion-rand in exports, the creation of approximately 20-thousand jobs, and over 1.6-billion-rand in additional tax revenues within five years:
