# Ramaphosa seeks a report from the Justice minister on the VBS Mutual Bank corruption claims

# President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed concern over media reports alleging corruption involving minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Thembi Simelane. The reports suggest that Simelane improperly received money from VBS Mutual Bank during her tenure as mayor of Polokwane Municipality in Limpopo. Ramaphosa has requested a detailed report and briefing from Simelane to address these allegations.
# The Judicial Service Commission has cleared Gauteng High Court judge Nomonde Mngqibisa-Thusi of an impeachable offence of gross misconduct. However, it has found her guilty of misconduct for delaying judgments on at least 26 occasions. This follows a complaint lodged by Judge President Dunstan Mlambo. The Judicial Conduct Tribunal found that Mngqibisa-Thusi failed to inform Mlambo she was unable to produce the judgments timeously. The JSC has ordered her to apologise to Mlambo and the attorneys of all affected parties within 14 days.
# The MK Party Youth League says it is concerned and disappointed over the recent actions that have disrupted the unity and camaraderie within the Progressive Caucus. The caucus represents 102 seats in the National Assembly which includes the MK Party, EFF, and ATM. The league’s spokesperson, Nkateko Mkhabela, says it is unacceptable and disheartening that the caucus is being undermined from within by certain individuals who prioritise personal agendas over the collective good:
# Boxing: Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, says he won’t continue to oppose the application brought by the National Professional Boxing Promoters Association. The association had lodged a case against the minister on the grounds that no consultation was done before the Boxing South Africa board was appointed. The department’s spokesperson, Cassiday Rangata-Jacobs, says McKenzie will dissolve the board in the interest of the sport as a whole:
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-73-cents and the euro at 19-rand-77-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-46-cents and Bitcoin trades at 58-thousand-263-dollars-46-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-509-dollars-11-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 78-dollars-75-cents a barrel.
# And finally, English rock band Oasis announced a reunion tour, 15 years after brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher split and the group was dismantled. Oasis was formed in Manchester in 1991 and became one of the most successful of the era, selling about 75-million albums and performing worldwide. Some of their hit albums were Definitely Maybe, Be Here Now, and Don’t Believe the Truth. The tour will consist of 14 performances in the United Kingdom next year, including at Wembley and the Principality Stadium, with ticket sales opening on Saturday.
