In this bulletin:
# The Election Commission anticipates to announce the results on Sunday
# Julius Malema says the EFF will accept any outcome of the elections
# And golf: All the charges against Scottie Scheffler are dropped
# The Electoral Commission says it has seven days within which to announce the election results, but it will try to announce the results by Sunday. Counting in 133 of 23-thousand-293 voting districts has been completed with the ANC currently leading nationally with 49.37-percent followed by the DA at 26.22-percent and the EFF on 7.18-percent. IEC CEO Sy Mamabolo says they are aiming to balance accuracy and speed in announcing the election results.
Meanwhile, the EFF leader Julius Malema says they are waiting for the outcome of the election results in anticipation. The party is aiming to remove the DA from remaining the official opposition and to gain one million votes in Gauteng and another million in KwaZulu-Natal. Malema says the first price is not to be the president of South Africa but to make sure that the dignity of citizens is restored:
# The City of Tshwane says service interruption that occurred in various areas yesterday was not due to any sabotage. Some residents were hit by both power and water cuts, which they had not expected especially on election day. Affected areas included Soshanguve, Mamelodi, parts of Centurion, and Moreleta Park. The problems were resolved. The metro’s spokesperson, Selby Bokaba, says interruptions that occurred were a result of system failure and cable theft:
# Expectations of delayed interest rate cuts in the United States are impacting oil prices. A rise in consumer confidence has sparked fears that the US Federal Reserve may postpone rate cuts, which would strengthen the US dollar and make oil more expensive for international buyers. Despite these concerns, oil prices have risen due to expectations that major oil producers will continue supply cuts as global demand increases with summer travel. The probability of the Fed’s first rate cut in September has fallen to 44-percent, with expectations for November and December rate cuts also decreasing.
# Golf: Charges against world number one Scottie Scheffler after his arrest in Louisville during the PGA Championship have been dropped. The American had been charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer. Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell says after reviewing the evidence he found that Scheffler’s actions did not satisfy the elements of any criminal offence. Scheffler’s attorney Steve Romines said the 27-year-old would not be filing a civil lawsuit:
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-45-cents and the euro at 19-rand-93-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-43-cents and Bitcoin trades at 67-thousand-949-dollars-28-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-333-dollars-7-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 83-dollars-29-cents a barrel.
