# DA leader John Steenhuisen and national spokesperson Solly Malatsi will lodge criminal charges against deputy president Paul Mashatile at Cape Town Police Station tomorrow. This follows outlined exposés of allegations of corruption and state capture spanning nearly two decades. The DA submitted a dossier to president Cyril Ramaphosa, urging action, but no response ensued. Steenhuisen emphasises the need for accountability and legal action:

# Eskom has announced that it is grappling with insufficient generation capacity as ten units are offline due to boiler tube leaks. Spokesperson Daphne Mokoena confirms the setback, leading to the indefinite implementation of Stage 6. Delays in returning three units from planned maintenance exacerbate the situation, increasing reliance on emergency reserves. Mokoena stresses the urgent need to replenish reserves and address inadequate generation capacity:

# US Congressman John James has called for a review of US bilateral relations with South Africa, citing concerns over the South African government’s stance on Hamas, Russia, and China, and the country’s case against Israel in the International Court of Justice. The bipartisan Bill to Congress, highlights South Africa’s alignment with these governments and its criticism of Israel. The Bill argues that South Africa labeling Israel an apartheid state and accusing it of genocide, is problematic. It also raises concerns about state capture, the Transnet commodities export crisis, and the cholera outbreak, attributing these to corruption and mismanagement.

# Cricket: Australia clinched a series victory over South Africa in the third and final One-Day International securing a 110-run win through the Duckworth Lewis Stern method in a rain-interrupted encounter at the North Sydney Oval yesterday. Australia posted a total of 277-for-9 and then dismissed South Africa for 127. The victory granted the home side a 2-1 series win and a four-point advantage in the multi-format tour ahead of next week’s four-day Test match in Perth.

# And finally: The Grow Great campaign is prompting renewed calls for the government to address child hunger as nearly half of South Africans could face food insecurity by 2025. Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, the campaign’s director, Edzani Mphaphuli, emphasised the urgency of the situation, stating that poverty and unemployment, are contributing factors. Mphaphuli warned that food insecurity can lead to malnutrition, stunted growth, and harm children’s development. She called for a national commitment to zero stunting by 2030:
