Parliament raises concern over CETA bursary delays and financial mismanagement

# Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Higher Education has expressed concern over delays by the Construction Education and Training Authority, or CETA, in awarding bursaries, which have denied students timely access to education and training opportunities. The Department of Higher Education and Training placed CETA under administration in August 2025, following governance and operational challenges. Committee chairperson Tebogo Letsie says the committee is also concerned about CETA’s financial position, particularly the reported expenditure of 1.25-billion-rand against its revenue of 914-million-rand, leaving a deficit of 336-million-rand.
