# The Gauteng legislature’s portfolio committee on e-Government and Research and Development and the portfolio committee on Community Safety are calling for an independent investigation into an alleged security breach involving the provincial e-panic button platform. Residents’ personal information, including names, locations and crime reports, may have been exposed. The committees are concerned the Information Regulator was only informed two weeks after the breach and want details on those affected and steps taken to protect them.
