# City Power acting CEO Charles Tlouane is urging communities to help protect electricity infrastructure amid widespread cable theft, infrastructure vandalism, and illegal connections across the City of Johannesburg. The power utility recorded more than one-thousand infrastructure-related incidents in the 2025/2026 financial year, with 280 suspects arrested. Tlouane warns that the gap between electricity revenue and the cost of maintaining, repairing and investing in the network was not sustainable. He says a collaborative effort is required to resolve these problems.
