# Basketball: The National Basketball Association has closed its only elite basketball training academy in Africa, which operated in Senegal. The programme, launched in 2018, trained about 110 young prospects from across the continent, including players who progressed to professional opportunities. The league plans to move academy training to a new global facility in Abu Dhabi, where African prospects will train alongside players from other regions. The NBA says its commitment to African basketball continues through programmes including Basketball Without Borders and the Basketball Africa League.
