# The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union in KwaZulu-Natal has welcomed the Education Departement’s confirmation yesterday that 90-thousand-and-57 teacher posts had been allocated and funded in the province. SADTU’s Nomarashiya Caluza says cutting posts would have been disastrous, and the decision defeats an austerity agenda of budget cuts and vacancy freezes. But Caluza is critical about an instruction requiring Premier approval to fill posts. The union rather wants appointment powers delegated to District Directors.
