Cape Town records 45% rise in domestic violence calls

# The City of Cape Town says domestic violence calls to its Public Emergency Communication Centre increased by 45-percent in the last financial year. The centre recorded 6-thousand-487 calls linked to domestic violence in 2025/26, up from 4-thousand-464 two years earlier. The City says the increase may reflect both continued violence against women and children and more survivors coming forward for help. It says resources and enforcement do not always match the scale of the crisis.
