# Police have confirmed the recovery of another body in Ekurhuleni, bringing to eight the number of women’s bodies discovered in the metro over the past two months. The Police Ministry has offered a 400-thousand-rand reward for information that may lead to arrests. Acting Police minister Firoz Cachalia says the murders of the eight women are unacceptable, and has assured the affected families and the public that every effort will be made to bring the perpetrators to justice:

Meanwhile, Ekurhuleni mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza has expressed concern about the fear gripping communities, saying the killing of women in and around the metro has reached a crisis point. Detectives and specialised police teams are continuing to examine possible links between the cases. Xhakaza has emphasised the need for a comprehensive response, promising expanded surveillance camera coverage and better-maintained public areas:

# Electricity and Energy minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says South Africa must distinguish ambition from actual implementation in its green hydrogen programme. Addressing the Africa Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town, Ramokgopa stressed that priority status does not mean a project is under construction. He says inclusion in the National Green Hydrogen Deal Book is not the same as securing financial investment. He called for transparent reporting to maintain investor confidence:

# The chairperson of Parliament’s portfolio committee on Police, Ian Cameron, says he is still waiting for an investigating officer after opening a criminal case into the death of former police dog Sky. Cameron says Sky suffered severe injuries at the Roodeplaat veterinary facility in Pretoria and was later euthanised last week. He is also calling for implicated officials to be removed from animal-care duties and has asked the Independent Police Investigative Directorate to consider an independent probe.

# US president Donald Trump has criticised the Supreme Court’s decision to block his plan to restrict mail-in voting ahead of the November midterm elections. He had signed an executive order in March directing the US Postal Service to deliver ballots only to voters on lists of American citizens, arguing the rule change would combat electoral fraud. Justice Brett Kavanaugh, a Trump appointee, argued that applying the rule in the upcoming midterms would be arbitrary. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the Supreme Court has let the country down.

# Cricket: The Proteas Women secured an 80-run victory against Zimbabwe in the third T20 in Bulawayo to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. Captain Laura Wolvaardt scored an unbeaten 126, the highest score by a Proteas Women batter in T20, and she drew level with India’s Smriti Mandhana for most international hundreds with 18. She shared a 173-run stand with Karabo Meso, who scored an unbeaten 50 as the Proteas posted 200 for one. In reply, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 120, with Annerie Dercksen taking five wickets.
