# Parliament’s portfolio committee on Police has welcomed the successes by SAPS and the specialised law-enforcement units against the drug trade in the past week. In the Western Cape, police intercepted 57-thousand mandrax tablets and five kilograms of cocaine worth approximately 5.85-million-rand. An alleged drug laboratory valued at 100-million-rand was uncovered in Erasmia, Tshwane. Committee chairperson Ian Cameron says these successes are exactly why they continue to fight for something as basic as working police vehicles, as officers cannot dismantle drug networks if they can’t get onto the road.
