# A police investigator has told the inquest into Anele Tembe’s death her late fiancé, rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, appeared composed after she fell from the tenth floor of the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town in April 2021. Forbes was murdered in Durban the next year. The officer, who cannot be named, told the inquest Forbes revealed they had argued earlier, with evidence of blood present in the disorganised room:

# Businessman Mpho Malema, linked to the 16-million-rand Emfuleni municipal fleet tender fraud case in Gauteng, will remain behind bars for another week. He appeared briefly in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court this morning after he was arrested by the provincial political killings task team last week. Malema’s company was awarded the tender in 2022 to supply 18 vehicles to the municipality, but police say only seven were delivered. The case is also linked to a murdered whistleblower, Emfuleni clerk Martha Rantsofu. Malema’s bail application is set for next Monday.

# The Gauteng Health Department is strengthening its Emergency Medical Services workforce, with 167 officials graduating after completing a Higher Certificate in Public Management. The programme, delivered with Regenesys Business School, focuses on leadership, governance and operational decision-making. In addition, 117 Emergency Medical Care students during the 2025/26 financial year, exceeding its target of 90. Spokesperson Steve Mabona says the initiatives aim to build a capable, responsive and effective healthcare workforce.

# Motorsport: Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton says Ferrari needs rules of engagement. The Brit started fourth in the Italian Grand Prix, but was pushed off track by Monegascan teammate Charles Leclerc on the opening lap. Leclerc suffered a high-speed crash. Hamilton finished sixth and is now 76 points behind Mercedes’ championship leader, Italian Kimi Antonelli. He says it’s too late for Ferrari to prioritise him in the championship fight:

# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 15-rand-98-cents and the euro at 18-rand-58-cents. One British pound costs 21-rand-63-cents and Bitcoin trades at 79-thousand-501-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-393-dollars-35-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 99-dollars-21-cents a barrel.

# And finally: SANParks has unveiled the new Letaba high bridge in Kruger National Park amid Tourism Month and SANParks Week. Spokesperson JP Louw told the SABC the upgraded bridge will withstand future flooding and climate change impacts, with a wider culvert allowing improved water flow. Letaba rest camp is also reopening in phases following January’s floods. Louw has encouraged South Africans to take advantage of SANParks Week:
