# Motorsport: Pierre Gasly has claimed a surprise pole position for tomorrow’s Italian Formula One Grand Prix at Monza. The Alpine driver will start ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell, with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri third. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton qualified fourth and fifth, followed by Max Verstappen, Kimi Antonelli, Franco Colapinto, Lando Norris and Arvid Lindblad. Gasly’s pole is the first of his Formula One career. Piastri has since been handed a three-place grid penalty for impeding Liam Lawson during qualifying.
