# Health workers’ union HAITU accuses the Department of Health of deceit over unemployed doctors. The union argues minister of Health Joe Phaahla’s admission of funding shortages contradicts government’s claim that doctors choose unemployment over rural work. HAITU condemns the scapegoating of junior doctors, blaming government austerity measures for a healthcare crisis. They demand public health officials use public healthcare to understand system issues. The union calls for a robust healthcare system to fuel economic activity, urging policy reform and transparency.
# The Randburg Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg released former Orlando Pirates and Swallows player, Thandani Ntshumayelo, on one-thousand-rand bail. National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, says the former midfielder was taken into custody on Saturday and appeared in court yesterday:
# The DA in the Western Cape has requested an internal audit investigation to identify the cause of the error that caused residents accounts to be double debited in Knysna. The DA’s Levael Davis says it is unfair towards the residents especially pensioners and families who cannot afford it, to have a double debit going off their account:
# Cricket: Johannesburg’s sports scene is abuzz over the heroics of an under 13 player who smashed an unbeaten triple century in a schools match. It took Josh Anderson of Trinity House Randpark Ridge just 162 balls to reach 357 runs, including 23 sixes and 42 fours. His team ended on 591 for nine, and then bowled out St John’s College for just 187 when Christian Sparks took seven wickets. Josh was the captain of the Gauteng Lions’ Under 13 team last year.
