# The City of Cape Town has added 418-thousand jobs over the current local government term, more than the next four largest metros combined: Johannesburg, eThekwini, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni. This is according to Statistics South Africa’s Quarterly Labour Force Survey data from quarter one 2022 to the latest quarter two 2026. Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says Cape Town accounts for nearly 50-percent of all jobs added across the eight metros, adding that this is real progress in the mission to build a city of hope for all:
