Western Cape Premier Alan Winde has launched the lawyers in police stations project to help improve criminal investigations and prosecutions. The initiative, run with the police and the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime, will place lawyers at police stations to train officers, improve statements and strengthen case dockets. Following a pilot at Grassy Park, the project has been expanded to Mitchells Plain, with plans for further expansion in the province.
